The German federal state Thuringia is one of the country’s lesser known places. When Thuringia native Clueso performed “kein Bock zu geh’n” at Stefan Raab’s Bundesvision Song Contest in 2005, a nationwide TV audience wondered: who is this charming young guy? Seems that Thuringia has more to offer than we thought.
Now, who is Clueso? Listen to his current album “weit weg” for answers.
“weit weg“ showcases Clueso’s talent as a singer and songwriter. The album deals with different aspects of Clueso’s life. Clueso has a very distinctive style that can never be pigeonholed. He’s inspired by all kinds of genres but never loses track of his trademark sound. Clueso and his band bring you to a world of surprising perspectives and dreamy details.
Meet Clueso somewhere “Out Of Space“, witness him looking through a telescope from the wrong side, meet him waiting on remote airports as on „Mach’s Gut“. Separation and unification, travelling and coming home are the motives you’ll find all over his record.
“Bleib Einfach Hier“ is a reggae track that deals with Clueso’s feelings when he left his native Thuringia as a teenager. “Chicago“ is the album’s first single, a song about a drug-addict young girl’s dream to travel to Chicago.
On “weit weg”, beautifully crafted songs arise from a lush band sound. Clueso’s band has been with him for the last two years supporting him performing in front of 300,000 people on more than 120 club and festival stages in Germany, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Australia and New Zealand.
“weit weg“ features lots of guest stars. For the song “Da wohnt so’n Typ”, Clueso is joined by label mate Max Herre, a long-planned cooperation that has been postponed again and again. Working with Max Herre means a dream come true for Clueso who has been a huge fan for ages. In addition, the cooperation was something that Clueso fans have long been demanding. On “Morgen Gestern”, Clueso is joined by his good friend Flowin’ Immo and more features include New Telepathics (England) or Razkajam (Hungary).
Clueso worked with Ralf C. Mayer, mixer for Die Fantastischen Vier and Xavier Naidoo before on the production of “Gute Musik”. For “weit weg”, Ralf Mayer was asked to join Clueso as a co-producer and helped to create Clueso’s unique sound.
Songs on the album include the gentle “Sommer Winter“, punk inspired songs like “Hirn ein“ and finishes off with the amazing “Out Of Space“, a song you’ll be listening to on your car stereo on the way to the summer festival and back.
